Cooking does not always need to be an event. Sometimes you just need dinner on the table in twenty minutes so you can move on with your night.

This is a fast, throw-together noodle dish that relies on a few reliable ingredients. You need a pack of noodles, broccoli, and ground meat. Use whatever meat you want or whatever is on sale: turkey, chicken, or beef all work the exact same way.

The main shortcut is using pre-made teriyaki sauce so you do not have to mess around with five different bottles of condiments. If you shop at Trader Joe’s, grab their Soyaki. If you go to a regular supermarket, buy Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki. They are literally the exact same sauce from the same manufacturer, just in different bottles. It handles the garlic, ginger, soy, and sesame all at once. Toss it with the noodles, and dinner is done.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 12 oz chopped broccoli
  • 1 lb ground turkey, chicken, or beef
  • 3 packs knife-cut style noodles
  • 1/3 cup Soyaki sauce

Ingredient Note: Not shopping at Trader Joe’s? Trader Joe’s Soyaki is a white-label version of Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki, so they are the exact same sauce. You can swap in Soy Vay and grab A-Sha Hakka / Squiggly Noodles in the Asian food section of any regular grocery store.

Instructions

  1. Sauté the Broccoli: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chopped broccoli and cook for 4–5 minutes until vibrant green and tender-crisp. Transfer the broccoli to a plate and set aside.
  2. Brown the Protein: In the same skillet, add your choice of ground meat. Break it apart with a wooden spoon and cook for 6–8 minutes until fully browned and cooked through. Drain off any excess fat if needed.
  3. Cook the Noodles: While the meat browns, bring a pot of water to a boil. Drop in the knife-cut noodles and cook according to package instructions (3–5 minutes until chewy and al dente). Drain thoroughly.
  4. Combine and Toss: Turn the skillet heat down to medium. Add the sautéed broccoli and drained noodles back into the pan with the browned meat, then pour the Soyaki sauce over everything.
  5. Simmer and Serve: Toss continuously for 1–2 minutes so the noodles absorb the sauce and everything is well coated and heated through. Serve hot.
